Bacolod City as Top Destination for Outsourcing Operations for 2018
Bacolod City, Negros Occidental remains to be a preferred location for outsourcing operations as confirmed by top international consulting firms and companies.
Bacolod is a mid-sized city that also serves as the capital of the province of Negros Occidental, Negros Island in the Visayas. Bacolod City has most of the facilities and capabilities of big cities while at the same time possessing the laid-back atmosphere and lower cost of goods of that of a province.
Colliers International Philippines, as represented by Research Manager Joey Roi Bondoc, said that some knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) companies such as software and game developers are looking at Bacolod as a potential site outside Metro Manila. Bondoc acknowledged that the existing voice business process outsourcing (BPO) such as call centres are continuously growing.
Bondoc said while Bacolod remains a major destination for outsourcing services, its talent poo and office space need to scale up if the city is to corner a larger fraction of the local KPO pie.
Tholons Services Globalization Index (TSGI) increased the ranking of Bacolod City from 97th place in 2017 to 89th in 2018- putting Bacolod City in the world’s top 100 cities for global outsourcing services. In 2018, TSGI’s ranking was published with traditional factors, such as talent, skill and quality, business catalyst, cost, infrastructure, and risk and quality of life at 75-percent weightage, with 25-percent weightage for digital transformation.
Tholons International is the leader in global outsourcing locations rankings. They released the research report and ranking of the Top 50 Digital Nations and Top 100 Super Cities for 2018 on October 8.
